6 Steps to Effectively Remove Chocolate Stains

Step 1

Find out the most appropriate cleaning method by first identifying the type of fabric and reading the washing label. If the fabric should not be washed, send it to the dry-cleaners quickly. We advise that fabrics such as silk, wool, cashmere and mohair should not be washed in hot water, but fabrics such as cotton, linen, lycra, spandex and polyester are suitable for all basic cleaning methods. Based on the types of fabrics and their cleaning instructions, adjust accordingly as you follow the proceeding steps.

Step 2

Act quickly to increase your chances of removing the stain effectively. Try to remove the chocolate stain with a knife or spoon while keeping in within the affected area without rubbing it deeper into the fabric.

Step 3

Run the chocolate stain under cold, running water to prevent the fabric from further absorbing the chocolate.

Step 4

Dab a small quantity of laundry detergent to the chocolate stain and leave it to soak in cold water for 15 to 30 minutes. Make sure you use a cleaning agent that is appropriate for your fabric. You can test it on a discreet area first.

Step 5

Read the washing instructions carefully, before proceeding to wash the fabric as per normal

Step 6

Repeat step 4 if necessary
